AS' report on excavations at the former Church Hall site at High Street, Soham has been published in the latest edition of the journal Proceedings of the Cambridge Antiquarian Society

During the summer of 2011, Archaeological Solutions Ltd undertook excavations at the site of St Andrew's Church Hall in Soham town centre. The excavation revealed well preserved multi-period settlement remains. The most significant archaeology present was a late Iron Age to early Roman ditched enclosure with evidence for high-status occupation, including imported Gallo-Belgic pottery. Activity shifted away from the site before resuming in the late Roman period. Notably, the presence of a pit and Ipswich ware pottery provide the first evidence for middle Saxon occupation in the town and important late Saxon settlement evidence was also recorded.
